Preliminary hearing was set for "time certain" for convicted human trafficker David Anderson started half an hour later on June 11.
This is the second time Anderson is charged with human trafficking. He also has a parole revocation case.
Judge Christopher Wilson read the charges.
Charges for today's preliminary hearing include Count 1, human trafficking of a minor for commercial with a special allegation that Anderson was previously convicted of human trafficking in November 2014.
Count 2 is forcible rape with special allegation that the offense was committed with administering a controlled substance. Count 3 is forcible rape with special allegation that the offense was committed with administering a controlled substance .
Count 4 is forcible sodomy with special allegation that the offense was committed with administering a controlled substance .
Count 5 is forcible oral copulation of a minor with one special allegation that the offense was committed with administering a controlled substance.
Another special allegation Judge Wilson said was "applicable at the time of filing but not now." The People are not asking that the special allegation of 667.1 be held "based on the current evidence."
Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is the prosecutor for the case. Mr. Michael Acosta is Anderson's attorney.
After the hearing concluded, Anderson was held to answer on Counts 2 through 5. He was not held to answer on Count 1. As for the special allegations, there were two he was not held to answer.
Regarding Count 1, Judge Wilson said he did not find sufficient evidence for that charge and suggested lesser offenses might be appropriate.
Mr. Acosta said that Count 1 was racist. Judge Wilson
Arraignment is on June 25.
