When Eureka City Manager Greg Sparks was the City Manager in West Des Moines, Iowa, there was a settlements in a lawsuit with allegations of discrimination and retaliation.

"A third settlement has been reached in the sex discrimination case against the City of West Des Moines and Police Chief Shaun LaDue, the same weekend that LaDue resigns as chief."

"The attorney representing the three women alleging discrimination says her clients all complained internally before they filed their civil rights complaints and nothing was done to protect them."

"Lawsuit court documents state, “In spite of his poor showing in the interview process, city manager Greg Sparks offered LaDue the police chief position on Aug. 3, 2012.”
