Carpathian enters no contest plea and accepts DA's offer of 16 years in prison

As previously reported on the first day of jury selection, the District Attorney had made an offer of 16 years in prison. The offer was made on Tuesday. Beideman finally decided to accept the DA's offer today. As previously reported, had he been convicted of any of the 8 charges dismissed today, it would have been life in prison.

Court clerk John Beideman just entered a no contest plea to an added Count 9 of PC 288. 5 (a), continuous sexual abuse of a minor. The prison sentence is  a stipulated term of 16 years. The no contest plea was over objection of Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads. Beideman will have to register as a sex offender.

Sentencing is on December 14.

The victim in the molestation case was Beideman's former stepdaughter.

November 13 post:

Alleged molestor John Beideman's jury trial scheduled to start today
Alleged molestor John Beideman's jury trial was scheduled to start on November 13.  The alleged victim is his former stepdaughter.

Discovery includes a box of handwritten letters from Beideman to Jane Doe, family law pleadings and 50 files on a thumb drive with pornographic father daughter images recovered from Beideman's cell phone and other electronics.

The attorneys and defense investigator met privately with Judge Kaleb Cockrum in a closed courtroom. Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads left, came back, left again. There is only one other lady here I had not seen before. She is a community  member. The alleged victim and any other family members are not here.

Now, Mr. Russ Clanton is speaking with his private investigator and they went inside. Heard something about, "maybe they will just have you take photographs."

Ms. Eads just went in at 10: 45 and four jurors with a Courtroom 2 badge arrived between 10:45 and 11 and are now outside Courtroom 2.
