Yosemite fire making it difficult to serve subpoenas in Mario Alexander case

Trial confirmation was scheduled for alleged molestor Mario Alexander on July 25. Alleged victim is his stepdaughter.

Defense requested trial confirmation be continued to August 1.  Jury trial  scheduled for August 13 was confirmed by Mr. David Celli, appeared in court for Mr. Russ Clanton with a "caveat." Mr. Celli said that  "several out of county witnesses live in the vicinity of the Yosemite fire" and it has been difficult to serve subpoenas.

There is a defense motion for a 48 hour jail pass scheduled for August 7. County Counsel has filed an opposition to this request, on behalf of the jail.

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads told Judge Marjorie Carter that despite a previous request, she has yet to receive a witness list from the defense.

Trial estimate is 4-6 weeks. Trial assignment is August 10.
