Man passed out in car ends up being felon in possession of a loaded firearm
On August 1, 2018, at about 1:00 a.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department responded to a parking lot at the 3300 block of Broadway for the report of a male passed out with a handgun on his lap inside of a parked vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and conducted a high risk stop on the parked vehicle; however, the male occupant did not acknowledge officer’s commands. After numerous attempts, officers approached the vehicle and could see the handle of the handgun in the male’s pocket. The male occupant eventually woke up and was taken into custody without incident.
The handgun was determined to be loaded The male was identified as Nolan Travis (26 of Del Norte County). Travis was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, and possession of ammunition by a prohibited person.
