"We agree that a NGI plea is appropriate in this case based on the defendant's long standing history of mental illness and conclusions of both experts"

Setting of jury trial and findings of Dr's reports was scheduled this morning for Polish citizen Ewa Misztal. She is charged with assault on a child causing death. The child, her own baby.



The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer. Misztal is represented by Casey Russo.

"We agree that a NGI plea is appropriate in this case based on the defendant's long standing history of mental illness and conclusions of both experts," Ms. Schaffer told Judge Reinholtsen.

Both attorneys needed some time to discuss the next step in this case. Next court hearing is February 8 at 8:30 p.m.
