  2. Why the hell were people not helping the child! One man, how many others were just standing there??? That is horrid! What is wrong with people! This child will never be ok? She may heal, but she has been maimed! The damage inflicted on her psyche prior and during the attack will leave her permanently scarred as well.

  3. According to an interview with the Times Standard, John Marceil said that the people standing around were his family.

  4. What is wrong with people? Luckily ONE man stepped up and stopped this woman. Why the hell were others just standing by? The same man who stood up and helped her had to call 911 as well. How does someone just standby! This child will never be OK. She may heal but she will not be whole physically or mentally! Who knows what this poor Jane Doe has suffered in the past. It is shameful that people chose to be bystanders! It is sickening. STOP STANDING BY TO VIOLENCE!

    1. John Marceil gave an in depth interview to a local station and it would be good for everyone talking about the 10-12 people standing around to listen to it. They were not standing around!!! His Mother was in this group of people and had at one time in her life experianced a brutal beating. When she saw what was happening to this girl she went into shock and uncontrollable anxiety and was being taken care of by other family members while the attack was happening. In total there were only 7 people "standing around" and if you LISTEN to what John "the hero" says about his family members it was a case of both taking care of the little girl and taking care of his Mother. Just remember some things are not always as they are reported. John Chiv as usual thank you for your great reporting and am not trying to step on your toes I just want people to understand it wasn't people just watvhing.

    2. tml, your comment is fine. I clarified the same above in a comment. In this case, the press release had listed people as bystanders. Not everyone reads the Times Standard or watches the TV stations regularly. I am glad John Marceil spoke to North Coast News in that in depth interview but in this case, I understood people were expressing that opinion for different reasons, all valid, and based on the information they had at that time.

    3. It also shows that many people regularly get their news from Kym Kemp or LOCO or me and that people wanting to get their story out should consider contacting sources in the community beyond "traditional media". So should the advertisers.

  5. Thank you for providing the actual charges. The professional rendering, while it states things clearly without bias, makes the charges feel even more horrendous than a highly colored account would. Sometimes the law in its stark efficiency turns a 'story' into the reality.
I'd like to blame others for not helping but I can't. I wasn't there and I don't know them.
I would instead ask how things got so bad with Kimberly Felder with no one noticing or being concerned about the daughter. This is going to be a long sad story unwinding. But let's be good jurors: Wait and hear the facts, listen to the testimony, weight the arguments. Don't waste your anger on faceless people who did or didn't do something. And when all the facts are known, all the testimony received and summarized, be angry still but put it to good use. If public services failed, demand changes. What ever else might have prevented this, support what was tried or condemn what wasn't.
And when you feel anger, also feel pity and compassion and pray for that little girl. A good prayer won't wipe away the anger but it will temper it to make it a tool for needed change.

    1. Yes, wait and hear, if you were not there. Had I been there I would have reacted to the horrible abuse. Not to judge the people that reacted differently than I would have. My nature is to respond. I would naturally want to protect that poor child from such horrific abuse!!

  6. If any of you have been paying attention to this story the people that were there were with the man that did step in and take control of the situation. And if you have any knowledge about this type of behavior you would know better than to say all the horrible things people are saying about this woman. She obviously has some sort of mental breakdown, be it a chemical imbalance, some are saying she stopped her meds, or possibly she was bipolar. Why would any of you judge this poor woman. She needs help and maybe now she will get it. Yes what she did was God Awful but, we all know that any normal person would not be capable of something like this. Stop judging and realize this woman has been victimized by our system and now her poor child has paid a horrible price for the way our system DOES NOT WORK.
