$500,000 bail set for Michael Grant charged with attempted murder

Michael Grant was arraigned today on his attempted murder case, which is Count 1 with a special allegation. Charges below:



Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees was present for the People. Conflict Counsel's Mr. Marek Reavis appeared with Grant today for arraignment.

Dates were set for the same day as his preliminary in another case. $500,000 bail.


Grant waved to three people in court. Looked like his dad, mom and either a younger brother or son.

Michael Grant arrested for attempted murder in Wabash incident

 On June 16, 2017 at about 9:32 a.m., the Eureka Police Department received reports of two shots fired in the area of Wabash Avenue and B Street.  The suspect was seen leaving in a black Dodge Charger.  Officers responded and located two shell casings in the street on the 20 block of Wabash Avenue.  


During the course of the investigation the intended victim of the shooting was identified.  The victim was able to identify the shooter as 34 year old Eureka resident, Michael Grant. 
Based on supporting evidence, investigators developed probable cause that Grant attempted to kill the victim.

On June 21, 2017 at about 9:23 p.m., Michael Grant was arrested within a block of where the shooting took place.  He was in possession of a loaded handgun.  Grant was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on a warrant and fresh charges for felon in possession of a firearm.
