Chad Smith's preliminary on alleged sexual abuse charges reset for July 20

Chad Smith's intervention was continued from yesterday to a special set time of 3 p.m. this afternoon.

The defense made an oral motion yesterday to continue the preliminary hearing scheduled for June 15. That date was vacated. New preliminary hearing is on July 20 at 9:45. Intervention is scheduled for July 18.

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is prosecuting the case. Today DA Maggie Fleming appeared on behalf of the People. Conflict Counsel's Mr. David Lee.

Mr. Lee said discovery was "ongoing and voluminous and coming in at a rapid pace." A 10 day waiver was entered by Smith. Mr. Lee said he may need even more time to prep for the case but won't know that until later.
