Will Billy Honsal's good ole boy connections continue to protect him or are some people regretting their associations?

 

Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal is a coward. He glares at me recently since my coverage of the Miranda's Rescue investigation and probably won't say anything to my face like most in Humboldt.

Like others exposed, Billy makes a choice to call me a blogger instead of a reporter. When and if I get my latest CPRA request about the letter Billy finally sent to Ms. Allison Jackson after I called him out repeatedly; you will see Billy's own words which are short on facts and attacking me and others instead of self reflection.

Billy also made a statement which was untrue. I have proof but need the County's response to my CPRA. 

Blogger is not the diss Billybob or anyone else in podunk Humboldt thinks it is because new media has been the norm for a while now. It is recognized by the White House. Those in the current administration, unlike Humboldt, are people who are successful and have influence. Humboldt, as usual, is decades behind the rest of the country and the world.

Locals who do not want to control the media have used the label blog to describe other local media. Again, it is not dismissive but accurate when applied to other local media. These are people who are not good ole boys and gals, have suffered at the hands of the Humboldt cabal, read other media outside Humboldt and know more about what is actual journalism. A dot com with bells and whistles funded by those who do not want any real media or competition in Humboldt that publishes fluff, allows a free for all and one majority narrative plagued with insiders is worse than traditional or new media.

These people can see through when people with no journalist experience write PR or activist content and instead of being neutral; under your leadership Billybob; these sites are promoted by HCSO. Why?

When a NBC syndicate wanted to do another feature on the usual Humboldt murder mountain angle, I was the one who talked into a more positive approach highlighting the challenges of law enforcement in a rural area. I convinced them to focus on the excellent work in the Gary Lee Bullock case by Eureka Police Department and the Humboldt County DA's office. They wanted to cover cases like the Marci Kitchen case and commended my court coverage and exclusives.

Their segments did not include any other media but me and that was one of the conditions in the contract. You were supposed to be the narrator. You turned it down and cost me national exposure. This is just one example of how Humboldt has done me dirty.

You denied the Humboldt County DA's office recognition. You denied EPD the spotlight they deserve. All because you are selfish. You and the other good ole boys have done everything you can to destroy me, to keep me stuck here and make me struggle. There were others who also approached me from national media. Let me remind you and my local haters that CNN interviewed me in the the Fr. Eric Freed case; the Press Democrat featured me; not other local media. That is because outside Humboldt, people are not petty, cliquey, thin skinned and value talent. I had a career before I came to Humboldt. Those communities were wonderful to me.

It is your fault Billy that instead Netflix aired Murder Mountain. If you and the good ole boys and gals did not have teensy weensy, fragile egos; I could be more of a benefit to Humboldt.

I could have a dot.com if Humboldt supports me financially. It has not; instead it has cost me money. You would still call me names Billy because I don't stroke your ego and I don't ignore what you don't want public.

I do have a blog and I also have other platforms. I have decades of experience in traditional media and I saw the future in court coverage and new media years ago. 

Mainstream media is fake news and it is a tool used by the left and the right establishment but mostly the Democrats.

Right now in California, there are two bills that will silence any independent reporting spearheaded by Democrats. To those who thank me for my bravery and courage; while I appreciate the words; doing what I do under increasing challenges, no funding and most of you not willing to speak up or stand up for me is one of many Humboldt's failures and cowardice.

No one else is calling Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal out locally or reporting what I have on the Miranda's Rescue investigation. The regional media has moved on to the next clickbait. When there is no risk; the other media may crawl out of the rock just as they did with Gregory Kreis.

On Friday, I received three different pieces of information. Is the scrutiny getting to Billy? Will there be any consequences from his handling of the Miranda's Rescue investigation?

Hard to tell because the good ole boys and gals of Humboldt protect certain people. Is there division? Have certain people expressed disapproval and concerns privately? Has Billy become enough of a political liability where he will experience what most of us know. In politics, business and especially Humboldt; people will turn on you to save their skin faster than the blink of an eye.

One source told me that last week, Billy was spotted outside the Courthouse sitting in his truck with his head down on the steering wheel.

Billy could be tired but it isn't as if he actually goes out in the field and does anything resembling actual law enforcement protecting the public.

Another source told me that former Humboldt Sheriff Mike Downey is "not happy" with his protege. The "not happy" are words used by the person I spoke with and I do not know if former Sheriff Downey used those exact words.

The third source told me that Adena Bohn was at Murphy's Market and saw a well known, influential, generational business owner. Adena slithered her way thinking that this would be another typical Humboldt ingratiating chat. 

The encounter did not go as Adena expected. Adena's Facebook account is restricted so I did not see the Facebook post she wrote about Shannon Miranda. Adena apologized  and apparently backtracked for going down "the rabbit hole." Again, these are words from my source. I was not there to witness said chat but if I was, I would get out the 🍿. The other person told Adena,"Are you going to take down your Facebook post about Shannon Miranda? Are you going to apologize?" This conversation took place in a very public place in a small town where everyone knows Adena and the other person. Adena was not thinking about the other person who I happen to know is private. One has to use discretion in a small town and be respectful. Adena is not this person's friend; an acquaintance would be stretching Adena's perception.

It is clear that Jody Honsal and Adena Bohn are arrogant and thought that because of who their husbands are, they can get away with whatever they want. Adena and Jody, your husbands are public figures and the taxpayers pay their salaries. 

I have already written about the relationship/friendship/alliance between Sheriff Honsal and First District Supervisor Rex Bohn.

I do not respect cowards. 

While I was out there in the midst of angry, violent protestors and the incidents I  am referring to are from my 2020 coverage, Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal sat in his truck and watched from afar. While I was praying for the safety of his deputies and incurring the wrath of the mob and in the midst of a hostile crowd; the chief law enforcement officer of Humboldt County was hiding like a coward.

I despise those who are in law enforcement agency "leaders" and do not back the men and women in uniform out patrolling the streets and making sure the public is safe. Billy Honsal is not thinking of how the Miranda's Rescue investigation and other bungles cases make HCSO look; all because he does not have the guts to take control of a situation caused by his disastrous handling of this entire Miranda's Rescue investigation. His wife is too self absorbed and arrogant to think about anyone but herself.

From the beginning, Shannon Miranda was upfront with me and willing to answer any questions. Shannon has told me more than once, "If I did something wrong, I expect you to report it because that is doing your job."

Shannon Miranda has not been charged. Yet, the pitchfork mob led by Jenna Moore and Jennifer Raymond have kept the drama going because of their personal agenda and because they are vindictive. They failed once in court but that was not enough.

It is under Billy Honsal that former livestock deputy Travis Mendes botched up the Ray Christie case and he is still employed as a extra help HCSO deputy despite a full time job at CAL Fire. Both Honsal and Mendes are co-defendants in a federal lawsuit with Deputy Public Defender Adrian Kamada and County of Humboldt. It is under Billy Honsal that another weak case by HCSO against Georgi Tonev is now going to resolve in a plea with the headline grabbing charges to be dismissed. None of the other local media covered, reported or took on HCSO and the DA's office. Once again, I did. A pattern is emerging and these three cases are just some of the examples of the cost borne by taxpayers due to the good ole boys of Humboldt.

Why has Billy Honsal not issued a public statement about his wife who has inappropriately crossed the lines by inserting herself into the Miranda's Rescue investigation which his agency oversees and still refuses to apologize or back down? 

Billy Honsal left Sunnyvale Department Public of Safety which was under scandal at that time and was a named defendant in a lawsuit against that agency. Unlike my detailed court reporting, you cannot find any details or coverage of that lawsuit and the only reference I found is not credible. It was almost two decades ago.

Honsal was never convicted of any wrongdoing in that lawsuit but the whispers continued in Humboldt. Billy should know that I did not print or even agree to listen to the rumors and gossip because some of the people who came to me had an agenda and other red flags. Daddy Honsal came to his rescue and used his connections so Billybob could have a Humboldt career.

Anyone else with even a hint of scandal would not have crawled their way up the ladder like Billybob but the Humboldt good ole boys and gals ignore whatever is inconvenient and there are different standards for their ilk.

I have know Billy for a long time. My relationship with him, like many in Humboldt has changed over the years when I started reporting on the good ole boys and entrenched systems of Humboldt.

My own experience with Billy is that he uses the Rex Bohn playbook of playing both sides. Is Billy the MAGA, Christian man or the Sheriff against ICE coming to Humboldt County? Depends on who he is talking to, me or the mostly liberal activist Humboldt media or Fox News.

Cowards and those two faced in Humboldt are not limited to Billy Honsal and First District Supervisor Rex Bohn.

TDS prevents the angry left from looking in the mirror. Humboldt protestors from the left with the same recycled slogans always protesting about the cause du jour with the usual Democrat talking points while they avoid taking on abuse of power and authority in Humboldt.

All the coverage I have done over 12 years which includes the real time coverage of Gregory Kreis to the current Miranda's Rescue investigation; if these protestors believed in truth, transparency and abuse of  authority, media control and retaliation; then they would be standing up for the only local reporter exposing all the above and holding those in power in Humboldt accountable. Their hypocrisy is evident. They attack the men and women in blue who are just doing their job. They do not believe in freedom of speech and attack anyone whose views are contrary to their narrow bubble. They will never risk taking on any injustice in Humboldt because the performative theater makes them feel good and they know there will be no legal or social consequences in Humboldt County.

With the Miranda's Rescue witchunt, not all but most of the pitchfork crowd are angry left activists. I don't know the political affiliation of Jenna Moore or whatever her last name is these days because I cannot keep up with her men and marriages; Adena Bohn or Jody Honsal but  Rex Bohn and Billy Honsal are conservative regardless of how they are registered.
