On 6/10, Kyra Kelly had a busy day. She was held to answer in her criminal case after the preliminary hearing. She was arraigned on information in her 2026 case. She is pro per in all her cases. Readiness Conference is on 8/21; jury trial is 8/31.
I already reported she has had two petitions to seal denied in two other criminal cases.
When I did my last post, these were the hearings scheduled in her civil cases.
CMC on 7/10 and 7/20 in the lawsuits against Richard and Brandon Pomrehn. CMC on 7/13/26 in her lawsuit against Big Oil and Tire. CMC on 7/20/26 in her lawsuit against Humboldt County Sheriff's Department.
Now, there have been other hearings scheduled in two of her cases since my last post.
On 6/10, she was waiting outside Courtroom 4 for a hearing in her civil lawsuit against Humboldt County Sheriff's Office. I was also waiting outside the courtroom as I have been covering, in person, several civil cases so I got to watch her in court. I only got to briefly observe outside court and inside the courtroom and she was respectful to Humboldt Superior Court Assistant Presiding Judge Timothy Canning. Humboldt Deputy Counsel Joel Campbell-Blair appeared on the HCSO case.
Judge Canning sustained the demurrer by the County of Humboldt with leave to amend. Kelly said she wants to file "a second amended complaint with the tort act." She has until June 29 to file and serve. Judge Canning was going to give her more time but she said, "oh I can do it" and stated less time.
In one of her civil lawsuits, the one against Big Oil a hearing is scheduled for 6/15 date and as usual, I found out last minute when I checked the online court calendar for Monday. I will check on it when I have time, I am still catching up with cases to update. If you read my blog or even a couple of posts in the last month, it isn't hard to figure out why.
