I was the first to report on the courthouse screenings this weekend. Most people and several people read those posts.
You can google those posts and watch the video of the January 6, 2025 the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors meeting.
HCSO deserves the money. Whether it is to contract with a security or to fund the positions through HCSO. However HCSO should not waste it hiring retired annuitants double dipping or former law enforcement employed elsewhere getting extra money and use it to hire new employees which saves money and offers a job to someone new.
I see every day what HCSO Sgt. Comer, the bailiffs, the deputies go through in courts. I also see the security issues with people visiting County offices.
I already expressed how I feel about the County and Courts. No need to repeat the obvious. The Board of Supervisors' decision comes as no surprise.
What was missing from both County and Courts' versions is data which American Security has and can provide.
I submitted a PRA to the County today with three questions.
1.How many people on the average are screened at both entrances, if it is easier to give one number that is fine
2. In the last week or month, contraband or weapons seized/turned away
3. People come into the building & I dont know if there are stats (via questions, jurors) to determine how many go to the second floor.
I also contacted the courts about this and another rumor ? tip ?
If this was being negotiated for months and they were at an impasse, they had enough time to get this data.
The arrogant useless County Supervisors and admin making the big bucks put this on the agenda last minute, then made a decision without giving the public sufficient time for input. Shitty wifi at the courthouse, public access computers that are decades old, from no real economic growh for decades besides pot, welfare and government job and subsidies for their cronies and hiring by nepotism. That is Humboldt County in a nutshell. Budgets work when they are not used to subsidize your buddies.
