Yesterday, alleged molestor Derek Barnett's preliminary hearing continued by stipulation for setting on 12/23 for "collateral issues." Barnett is charged with three felony sex crimes involving a minor.
The "collateral issues" as referenced in the court minutes are the possibility of the FBI taking over the case.
Humboldt Superior Court Judge April Van Dyke made a disclosure. Prior to being elected as a judge, she worked for Humboldt Conflict Counsel.
Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm appeared on the case for the People. Conflict Counsel's office is representing Barnett.
I reported on Barnett's arrest last December and have been adding updates to that original post.
