Why was Travis Mendes back in court as a bailiff last week?

I was just told by a local attorney who knows Travis Mendes that this lawyer saw the former HCSO livestock deputy  in court last week. Any more details will identify my source.

I thought Mendes was at Cal Fire? Mendes is one of four people in a lawsuit filed by Ray Christie. The County of Humboldt and Sheriff William Honsal are two of the other parties. The fourth person is former Humboldt Deputy DA and now Deputy Public Defender Adrian Kamada.

I have emailed Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal and cced HCSO PIO Erin Inskip.

"Is this as extra help, full time? I thought he was with CALFire?"

If Mendes is back, will the taxpayers will foot his legal expenses? Mendes would be double dipping if he is extra help.

2:39 p.m. I want to thank Sheriff Honsal for his prompt response. "Travis Mendes is a full time CAL FIRE employee, however, he does work extra help as a Deputy Sheriff, assigned to the Superior Court."
