Eureka Police Department just issued two press releases. One on a 22 year old Logan Juchtzer who was arrested for felony evading and the other on a hit and run suspect.
EPD Press Release (Logan Juchtzer):
On December 3, 2025, at approximately 10:25 p.m., a Eureka Police Department patrol officer observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of H Street.
The motorcycle was also operating without required lighting equipment and was being driven recklessly. The officer attempted a traffic stop near H and Harris Streets. The rider initially slowed but then fled at speeds reaching approximately 85–90 miles per hour in a posted 30 mph residential zone. Due to the rider’s excessive speed and increasing distance, the officer discontinued the pursuit while continuing to monitor the rider’s direction of travel for the safety of the community.
A short time later, the rider was located on Lexi Lane, where the officer re-initiated contact. The rider complied with commands and was taken into custody without further incident.
The motorcycle was impounded, and the rider, 22-year-old Logan Juchtzer of Eureka, was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on suspicion of felony evading VC2800.2(a).
This incident occurred in a residential area where serious collisions have previously been reported. The Eureka Police Department reminds all motorists that reckless operation of any vehicle places the public at significant risk and significantly increases their risks of being arrested, booked, and prosecuted.
EPD Press Release (hit and run):
On December 9, 2025, an officer with the Eureka Police Department responded to a reported hit-and run at W. Wabash Avenue and Spring Street.
One of the involved drivers fled on foot before officers arrived. The collision occurred at a signal-controlled intersection in a residential area.
Three vehicles were involved: one sustained moderate front-side damage, one motorcycle sustained major damage, and a third vehicle had minor front-end damage. No unusual roadway conditions were noted. Evidence was documented through photographs and Body-Worn Camera footage. A witness reported seeing one vehicle strike another and leave without stopping, and provided a description and partial license plate. The fleeing driver has not been identified at this time.
The primary impact area was located within the intersection. The collision was caused by a failure to yield during a left turn, a violation of California Vehicle Code 21801(a). The case remains under investigation.
