On December 12, I reported about repeat offender Clayton Miller's most recent arrest with details about my extensive prior coverage about his multiple arrests and the plea deal in his October 31, 2023 case.
This was before the Humboldt County Sheriff issued a press release about him and even made an exception to the Ninth Circuit ruling and released his booking photo due to "significant" concern for the public.
I don't care who at the Courthouse is dating, married or divorced unless it is relevant to their work or there is information that makes it news.
Anyone who has read my reporting for years knows I do not do selective reporting. I write about my advertisers and even attorneys I like if it is news worthy. Anyone who has read my blog from the beginning knows that I think very highly of Humboldt Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm.
I am going to refer to him by first name because over the years I have covered many of his cases and know him as a person and not just another lawyer , we have had times where I was blunt in my coverage of cases he prosecuted, there are times I have disagreed with Trent and he always understands I am doing my job and if he has an issue, he addresses it with me privately, listens to my side and we move on like mature adults.
Trent, you know I have not written about any changes in your personal life before because it is no one's business and it was not news or relevant to your work.
Since Friday, I have had multiple, credible sources come to me and either state that "Trent is dating Clatyon Miller's sister. "; "I saw them in Old Town and he was with his kids." Others have questioned if you are dating Clayton Miller's sisters and are expressing concerns that you maybe assigned to the case or appear on the case.
I was going to wait until Monday and talk to you face to face. I ran into more people today. I put my name behind my words, I moderate and do not allow anonymous comments.
Before someone leaks or disseminates anything to other local media and anon online forums who allow unsubstantiated claims in their comment sections or someone with a grudge against the Humboldt County DA's office, I did this post. I have sent the post to Trent. He can send me a response today or tomorrow or not. If he wants to speak to me personally, he can do that as well.
