What do Carson Park, Jack in the Box and a judgement of $575,545 that just got vacated today have in common?

(Image from Jack in the Box Eureka website)

Jose Martinez Flores filed a lawsuit against co-worker Christopher E Cate and also sued his manager and Jack in the Box on March 20, 2024.

In the complaint, Flores' alleged that on April 19, 2022 at Carson Park, Cate assaulted him with a box cutter and hammer. Flores further alleges that from "2021 to June 2022", Flores was "constantly harassed" by fellow employee Cate. Flores "sought help" from manager Elixmaena Klan "but to no avail."

I have provided court documents which have a few more details.

Flores was represented by Yreka attorney Mr. James Johnson, thenHornbrook attorney Mr. Ronald Johnson took over the case.  Ms. Avneet Johl is representing Cate, Klan and Jack in the Box. She is an associate at the Lewis Brisbois Sacramento office.

On January 29, 2025, dismissal for Klan was granted by Humboldt Superior Court Judge Timothy Canning but judgement entered against Cate and Jack in the Box for $575, 545.

Today, Judge Timothy Canning granted the motion to set aside and vacate judgement against Cate and Jack in the Box.

There is a case management conference scheduled on 3/27/26.
