$60,000 bail for indecent exposure suspect Kevin Astry who is also charged with battery on HCSO Deputy

 

HCSO arrested old Kevin Astry on December 9.

The press release says he is 37 years old; the jail log says he is 39 year old. Checked the dob with court records and he is 37 years old.

The DA charged him with PC 69 obstruct/resist executive officer; PC 243 (c) (2) battery with injury on a peace officer and PC  314 (1) indecent exposure. Alleged victim for Count 1 and 2 is HCSO Deputy Tristan Smith.

Humboldt Deputy District Attorney filed the complaint on 12/11 and appeared at arraignment on the case. Humboldt Superior Court Retired Judge Marilyn Miles appointed the Public Defender and set bail at $60,000.

OR bail was this afternoon and continued to 12/16 by Retired Humboldt Superior Court Judge Marilyn Miles for the DA to provide Astry's criminal history. Preliminary hearing on 12/23/25.

12/16/25: Supervised release granted by Judge Miles. Deputy DA Rebecca Buckley-Stein appeared on the case for the People. Deputy Public Defender David Celli gave Court and DA letter from DHHS that Astry is involved in services. Trish Smith, home health care worker for Astry was present in court. Supervised release terms include continuing services with DHHS, taking medication as prescribed, he cannot enter Pine Hill Elementary and maybe placed on electronic monitoring by "supervision officer."

12/23/25: Preliminary hearing continued by stipulation to 1/30/26.
