Instead of alleged sexual abuse of a minor, Humboldt County more concerned about insurance and denying responsibility

J.K is suing the County for alleged sexual abuse and assualt in foster care while she was a minor. J.K. 's foster parents, Corbin Cook and Lena Cook are named  as alleged perpetrators and Lena Cook's brother, David Blachley is the third perpetrator named in the complaint. They are accused of fondling the minor, penetrating her vagina and taking nude photos of her. Despite minor informing her probation officer, the lawsuit claims an investigation was not completed and the sexual abuse continued.

Humboldt County is more concerned about what insurance will cover which the County's lawyers from the Mitchell Law Firm claim will significantly affect the outcome of the case which could be a settlement conference or taking it to trial. Humboldt County has submitted a government tort claim to the State.

The minor, who is now an adult, has chosen to use her name in a court document and is fighting to get records of her own juvenile file.

Some court documents are excerpts; others are the complete filings.
