The plea deal was for 19 years. The math didn't add up and Judge Christopher Wilson came up with 21 years, 8 months. In order not to delay sentencing, Judge Wilson and Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads reworked the plea deal and Ryan Salas ended up with 18 years, 8 months. Salas' attorney is Mr. Russ Clanton.
Not bad for a convicted felon, who also got two files dismissed and more charges. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter, second degree robbery and some special enhancements. Salas entered a limited waiver on his appeal rights. He has 3,930 credits. The custody credits are both local and previous CDCR credits.
His first degree murder verdict was overturned by the First Apellate District.
