Wesley Starritt to be arraigned on new charges of murder, torture, attempted murder and assault

Wesley Starritt is scheduled to be arraigned shortly. See update at end of post which has information added after arraignment was completed.

The DA has filed charges that include Count 1 murder with special allegation of burglary, infliction of torture and use of a deadly weapon. Victim is Roger "Mitch" Clark.

Count 2 attempted murder with special allegation of use of a deadly weapon. Count 3 is assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm with special allegation of great bodily injury. Alleged victim for these two counts is Ciuleandra Smith.

Count 4 is assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm with the special allegations of great bodily injury. Alleged victim for Count 4 is Bryan Tatum.

The DA could ask for the death penalty in this case.

Judge Wilson already mentioned to Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm and Deputy Public Defender Wade Orbelian that doubt has been declared in other cases.

Criminal proceedings had been already been suspended on June 2 in two other 2020 cases after the Public Defender's office declared doubt regarding his competency to stand trial.

2:45 p.m: Doubt declared. Dr. Wilson appointed. Report due on June 22 with all his other cases.

Bail status changed to no bail hold. This is according to bail schedule and the California Constitution, said Judge Wilson.

At booking it was 1.5 million. PD reserves argument on bail.

Three extra correctional deputies, in addition to Correctional Deputy Brittany Mendes, were in the jail conference room with Starritt.

Judge Wilson had to stop Starritt from talking about the charges. Starritt was surprised about the not guilty pleas on his behalf, he started to say, "but I..He was put on mute unless he had to answer questions.
"

When Judge Wilson asked Starritt if he consented to appear via video conference, Starritt responded, "I guess so."
