Supreme Court rules that Trump administration can go forward with transgender military ban
The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that the Trump administration can go ahead with its plan to restrict most transgender military service members from serving while court challenges continue.
Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan dissented.
The U.S. Supreme Court has lifted lower court injunctions that had stopped enforcement of President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender people serving in the military. The court has not ruled on the order itself, but the 5-4 decision allows the Pentagon to enact the ban while the case works its way through the federal court system.
