$105,000 bail for carjacking, assault and battery suspect Keith Robinson
On January 26, 2019, at about 12 a.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 2000 block of Ridgewood Drive for the report of a carjacking that had just occurred.
A juvenile victim told deputies that he had driven to Ridgewood School to meet with a friend. However, when the victim exited his vehicle to meet his friend, two male subjects physically assaulted him. The victim was able to flee on foot to a nearby residence and call for assistance. As he was calling for help, the victim saw the two subjects leave the area in the victim’s vehicle.
A deputy on patrol in the area quickly located the stolen vehicle traveling westbound on Ridgewood Drive. The deputy attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle briefly yielded and a male passenger fled from the vehicle on foot. The vehicle then continued traveling on Ridgewood Drive, fleeing from the deputy at speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour. The deputy pursued the vehicle onto Elk River Road. The vehicle later crashed into brush on Herrick Avenue.
Humboldt Bay Fire was called to assist in the extrication of the driver from the vehicle. The driver, 19-year-old Keith Oliver Robinson, was arrested without further incident.
Robinson was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of carjacking, evading a peace officer, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm, battery with serious bodily injury, driving without a license and assault by force likely to produce great bodily injury. His bail is set at $105,000.
