Trial confirmation and motion to compel discovery was scheduled for James Merrick on January 22 at 8:30 a.m. Jury trial is scheduled for February 25.
It is 9:48 a.m and Courtroom 5 is still not open. (See post on accident on 101 and how it delayed court calendars this morning.)
The Merrick case has not been called yet. Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm spoke privately with members of the victim's family. Instead of having them wait around, he offered to inform them later regarding the case. They left after being at the courthouse for an hour.
The court reporter for Courtroom 5 just got here at 10:25 a.m. Courtroom should open shortly.
