I contacted Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal to follow up on the replacement for Captain Kym Thompson as well as the news that an Undersheriff has been selected.
I also contacted HCSO PIO Samantha Karges. Her response:
"We have not chosen a new Captain just yet. We hope to have that position filled by the end of the month. We are not quite ready to release information to the public about the undersheriff position, but should have some news for you this week."
HCSO is not making any further comment. I did try to confirm the name
Justin Braud as the new Undersheriff.
