The real story here is why Monica Rose needed to do a facebook post

Monica Rose, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of the Redwoods, shared this social media post.

She is listed as an endorser for Michelle Costantine, one of three candidates for Eureka Mayor.

She did sign the endorsement sheet for Michelle Costantine.

"Monica reached out to me yesterday. She supports me as an individual. She reiterated that when we spoke last night at the BGCR event."

"I want to be very clear that she supports me personally but not as the club or board," said Michelle Costantine.

Michelle Costantine told me that she included Ms. Rose' title next to her name as she did for others.

Michelle Costantine shared with me communication from Ms. Rose yesterday which states that Ms. Rose supports her as an individual but not as the club or the BGCR director.

She has been trying to reach Ms. Rose today to see if removing her BGCR title would resolve the confusion and to discuss this further.

"My attention in this campaign has been focused on communicating one on one with voters why I am running for Mayor of Eureka," said Michelle Costantine. Responding to every single social media speculation or post takes away from that goal."

I contacted Ms. Rose. She sent me this response:

"The Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods is a non political organization. As the Executive Director of the Club, I do not endorse any political candidate. BGCR is here to serve all children.  Politics should stay away from the success of our program and the children we love so much.  I appreciate all of the candidates who love the Club as much as I do. "

Michelle Costantine has been contacted by other media. Someone is very interested in making much ado about nothing and don't care how it impacts Monica Rose or Michelle Costantine.

So had Monica Rose's name appeared on the list of endorsers for Heidi Messner and Susan Seaman, would this be an issue?

The title next to Ms. Rose's name can be removed. Simple fix. I didn't realize that Monica Rose gave up her right as an individual to endorse someone.

Elizabeth Maynard is the executive director of the Ink People. She is a Leslie Castellano endorser. Her title is not next to her name but she also is an executive director of a local non profit.

The rest of the media and the 7 candidates that purport to believe in clean campaigning completely ignored my post on certain HCDCC members endorsing a non Democrat candidate in Ward 1.

  1. In case you were not around when Liz Smith resigned from BGCR, this is the collateral damage of the dysfunction that is Humboldt. Crickets from the local media and NAACP.
