Polish citizen Ewa Misztal will plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter, child endangerment and abuse

Tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., Ewa Misztal, the Polish citizen charged with the death of her own baby will enter a plea. Final details of the plea are still being discussed.

"We believe we have resolved matter, " said Misztal's attorney, Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo. "The broad resolution is that Ms. Misztal will enter a guilty plea to voluntary manslaughter as well as child endangerment and abuse."

Both parties stipulated to the not guilty by insanity plea based on Dr. Chamberlain and Dr. Soper's reports.

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer is prosecuting the case. She told Judge Dale Reinholtsen that the plea was negotiated after taking into consideration Misztal's psychiatric conditions, wishes of the deceased child's father and input from Arcata Police Department.
