This is only partial footage as Sheriff William Honsal states on the video released today. You see and hear deputies give commands to drop the gun and one of the Widmark brothers on the ground after being shot. I am assuming this is part of the voluminous discovery given to Brandon and Jesse Widmark brothers' attorneys this week that I mentioned in yesterday's post.
When this incident happened, I was the only one to share a video clip from a reader that day. That was also a snippet. My video was redacted and did not contain the reader's name. I do know that reader video was obtained by the agency reviewing this incident. That video had also been posted on Facebook by the reader before the reader realized the consequence of that action. Social media is monitored by law enforcement and there are certain Facebook pages that are friendly with connections to local law enforcement and politicians. The reader is aware I was not the one to tell law enforcement about it's existence or reveal the identity of my source.
HCSO Press Release:On April 18, 2023, a deputy involved shooting occurred in the Eureka area. When we have a critical incident, we want to release as much information as possible as soon as the investigation allows. Today we are able to share with our community a critical incident video which includes an overview of the April 18th incident and corresponding video.
We previously stated that the responding deputies did not activate their body worn cameras and therefore, no video of the incident was taken. During the investigation, one body worn camera video capturing a portion of this critical incident was located. It is being shared with our community today.
No additional body worn camera video has been located.
