Former baseball coach's alleged molestation case likely to resolve just as I expected

Former baseball coach and alleged molestor Benjamin Pesch's trial confirmation this morning was continued to June 21 to see if the case has resolved. Pesch's jury trial is scheduled for 6/26. If you read my previous coverage, a plea is no surprise.

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer is the prosecutor for this case. She is out on maternity leave. Deputy DA Jessica Acosta appeared on the case for the People. Mr. Zach Curtis is Pesch's attorney.

Mr. Curtis told Retired Judge Christopher Wilson that he is currently in trial and "that he had extensive discussions with Ms. Schaffer. I believe we are going to have a resolution. I just need to talk with my client about the consequences."

Judge Wilson granted Mr. Curtis' request for Pesch to appear via Zoom for the next court date. People waived written notice on the defense oral motion to continue.

6/21: At trial confirmation, defense motion to continue granted. 6/26 date vacated. Trial confirmation on 10/16; jury trial 10/30.
