Brandon and Jesse Widmark had their preliminary hearing scheduled today. I was expecting a continuance. There was a lot of discovery and more given to defense in the past 30 hours. Deputy District Attorney Luke Bernthal told Retired Judge John Feeney that he is turning over discovery to defense as soon as he gets itbut there are multiple agencies involved and he is skeptical that the People and defense will be ready by the rescheduled date.
Ms. Andrea Sullivan is Jesse Widmark's attorney. Ms. Rebecca Linkous is Brandon Widmark's lawyer.
Brandon Widmark and Jesse Widmark entered time waivers in their cases. Jesse Widmark's presence was waived by Ms. Sullivan. Jesse Widmark had given Ms. Sullivan permission to enter a waiver on his behalf. "It is difficult for him to move around. He was shot multiple times and is in a wheelchair," said Ms. Sullivan.
Brandon Widmark is also in a wheelchair but was present in court. I had reported on Brandon Widmark's 2022 assault case which is trailing. Ms. Linkous hopes that case will be dismissed after she provides the DA's office with discovery.
Confirmation of preliminary hearing is on 6/16; preliminary hearing is on 6/20. Time estimate is 3 hours.
6/16: Instead of preliminary of 6/20, the case is on for setting of preliminary hearing.
6/20: Setting of preliminary hearing continued to 7/11.
