Will woman who shot her 17 year old son accept the latest offer and resolve this 2020 case?

Jury trial scheduled for 6/20 was confirmed today in the 2020 case of voluntary manslaughter suspect Pamela Millsap. The victim was her 17 year old son. Millsap's 10 year old daughter saw her brother being shot.

Whether the trial actually proceeds remains to be seen. Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is in the middle of jury selection for another case. Time estimate for that trial was two weeks and as of Day 8, jury selection is still going on. The People made an offer today.

Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell said discovery is not complete and defense is still investigating.

The People have 15 witnesses and one expert. Time estimate is 4 weeks.

6/16: Millsap was in court with her mother. Ms. O'Connell said case "cannot resolve unless probation is on the table." Defense confirmed although "there are a couple of witness issues." Release of subpoenaed documents from EPD to defense was on calendar, those records were in file and given to Ms. O'Connell. Defense is seeking  Eureka City School records and asked Retired Judge John Feeney to sign a 1503 subpoena. Jury trial assigned to Judge Cockrum. Time estimate is 4 weeks.

6/20: Conference in chambers with Judge Cockrum, continued to 6/21 to allow defense to discuss case with Millsap.

6/21: Motion in limine heard. Defense release of subpoenaed documents granted. DA motion to file amended information granted. John Doe will be referred to as Christopher Millsap.

6/22: Ms. O'Connell sick. Jury selection to resume 6/26.

6/26: Court unable to proceed; continued to 6/27 to resume jury selection.

6/29: Jury sworn.
