There was nothing in e court when I checked Friday about rescheduling former Humboldt Superior court mediator and former CWS employee Joe Hale's further arraignment on the amended complaint for this morning. After everyone is gone for the weekend on Friday, the online court calendar did not show Hale's name. This is on first thing in the morning before the clerk's office on I street opens and the DA's office opens. Hale's name is not on the paper calendar's and e court still shows it listed.
So something happened last minute again due to staff shortage, more likely Humboldt Superior Court incompetence. The calendar has been a mess since Court Coordinator Scott Anderson took over. Daily people and attorneys running around because courtrooms get changed last minute or their names are not on the calendar. If anything has changed, there is no way to find out how, even when the courtroom opens. This has been happening a lot with e court days behind. Or it is just the usual inaccuracy of the Humboldt paper calendar and online calendar not being accurate.
8:25: Fortunately, I saw the clerk for Courtroom 8 and she said it is on this morning. And the court bailiff who is a HCSO Deputy was kind enough to let me know when court opened. Several of the women that were here for the last hearing are here again. There were more people here. I let them know because we all have wasted time coming to court multiple times, waiting around for Dumboldt Superior Court management to get their act together. Dumboldt is not a typo.
Just like last time, Humboldt court admin can't get their act together creating chaos and inconvenience. Once again, no other media here. Even the Judge did not know there was going to be a plea today, everything was so messed up as usual in Dumbolt Superior Court.
Hale ended up entering a guilty plea to all 4 counts. Sentencing is tomorrow.
