280 days in jail, Joe Hale has to register as a sex offender for 10 years, electronics subject to search and seizure day and night

Sentencing concluded today for convicted sex offender, former court mediator and former CWS employee Joe Hale on June 6.

Mendocino Superior Court Judge Moorman gave Hale the maximum time of probation allowed by law. He is on formal misdemeanor probation for one year. Hale has to register as a sex offender for 10 years. Judge Moorman said he has to register in the next 5 days. This was since Hale delayed his commit to jail date. Otherwise he would have registered when he was released from custody.

His cell phone, computer, tablet and any electronic device is subject to search and seizure day and night. He has to provide access codes and passwords to law enforcement. Probation is to evaluate him for specific treatment program for sexual crimes. Victim restitution is reserved. Hale got lucky with fines and just got the standard court fines. He could have been fined $2,000 for one victim and $1,000 each for the other 3 victims. Hale got 280 days in jail with credit for one day. This instead of 6 months in jail each for 3 victims and 1 year for the 4th and minor victim.

I covered the plea and three victim impact statements in great detail yesterday. In this post, I am covering Jane Doe 1's statement, the sentence, Hale's statement and attorney arguments. No other media was present. It was an almost two hour hearing.

Jane Doe 1's statement and Judge Moorman's remarks to Hale were powerful.

Hale's performance in court which was not remorseful or convincing was meaningless because he is already planning to appeal for ineffective counsel. That ploy should not work since Judge Moorman went over the plea in detail and documented several statements on record which could be brought up for appeal. Mr. Gallegos, Hale and his wife actions and words outside court yesterday and today show how they really feel. Hale using medical appointments as an excuse to delay his commit to jail date for 60 days which is conveniently set for August 5 within the exact time he has to file appeal. Just another ploy to avoid jail. Watching Paul Gallegos in court on this case reminded me of my conversations with him about child abusers and predators and how thankful I am former Humboldt DA Maggie Fleming was elected instead of him and current DA Stacey Eads is in office. The Gallegos administration and mentality of those who agree with him is a nightmare for anyone who cares about victims who are children and women.

Hale and Mr. Gallegos took up most of the two hour hearing. Hale rambled on and on in a narcissistic, self entitled, white privilege rant about why he shouldn't be in jail. "Sex is important to me" is not an apology. No criminal wants to go to jail. If you have money and have leverage or connections the good ole boy Humboldt cabal and small town entrenched network, then you feel entitled to hold people full in a courtroom hostage for three hearings and two hours because you can afford to manipulate the system.

Mr. Gallegos kept repeating that his client pleaded guilty to all charges as if we should be grateful that his pervy client did that and therefore shouldn't get jail time.

Hale got a pretty good deal and he was not fired but got to resign. Hale only agreed to a plea because the evidence against him was indisputable. Humboldt Superior Court wanted this case to go away and it has without more coming to light. Mr. Gallegos did not refute the fact Hale committed the crimes against the four Jane Does. Are we supposed to let every criminal off the hook because they take plea or is that just more special treatment for

Mr. Trigg correctly pointed out that the images in discovery were from 2019 and there could have been more charges.

"In modern day, we can hurt people without touching them." Judge Moorman. She mentioned the internet, cell phones and social media in today's society "which have provided the means. This is one of those crimes."

Judge Moorman called Hale's crimes the "epitome of abusing a position of trust."

"From everything I have heard, you didn't believe you would be caught." Judge Moorman quoted Jane Doe 3's statement from yesterday. Judge Moorman said that Hale would have continued had your conduct not been interrupted, investigated and prosecuted. Judge Moorman also pointed that Hale felt had the audacity to surreptitiously recording victims at his temple and at work.

There was confirmation on record about what I said from the beginning to people. That discussions were going on since arrest and a plea was always the plan by defense.

Hale has no professional license. So why was he hired at CWS and Humboldt Superior Court? Remember my post where a reader mentioned his lack of qualifications.

The plea means no further investigation into why Humboldt Superior Court ignored complaints about Hale, Kim Bartleson gets to retire with no accountability and Humboldt Presiding Judge Gregory Kreis does not have to answer why Hale was allowed to resign.

I have followed Judge Moorman's rulings in Mendocino, her presiding over former Humboldt Public Defender's lawsuit over Kreis. The best thing in this case was that the entire Humboldt bench had to recuse themselves. Kudos to the Humboldt's DA Investigator Ryan Hill for his investigation and report.

It was very disappointing and disgusting to see Hale's former coworker and my former CWS coworker Varda Greenberg in court again today to support him. People from Temple Beth El, his wife and son were also there today and they are shameless to stand by and defend this predator. Anyone who stands by and defends Hale is not a person of faith or morals.

When I add Jane Doe 1's remarks in my other detailed post, what she said speaks for herself, the other three Jane Does hundreds of others who have had their lives destroyed by Hale. I agree with what Jane Doe 1 said.

I alerted some national media to look into this case, conviction and sentence as well as the local Humboldt courts.
