An Alzheimer patient, Judge Timothy Canning, attorney Chris Hamer and a daughter raising some questions that deserve answers

"Hi John,

This is Sharon Wolff – from long-ago DHHS years. I am wanting to get information out to the public as much as I can regarding the conservatorship case of my mom and step-father and what the Humboldt County Courthouse has done.  It involves local attorney Chris Johnson Hamer who had my mom, a diagnosed Alzheimer’s patient, sign a legal paper she drew up that gave conservatorship of herself and her entire estate to some previously unknown nephew of her fifth husband – and in direct opposition to the existing wills and living trust that both Mom and Ron created years ago that designates myself and/or my brother as their caretakers."

"The question here is why did Judge Timothy A. Canning accept the documents that were submitted by this attorney – over the In Pro Per filings that I wrote which clearly pointed out the issues. My issues don’t involve DHHS at all but this attorney and the judge who has sanctioned it and invalidated the wills and the trust without ever actually acknowledging that they exist. Seriously, the court never noted the wills and the trust that I filed with the original petition in June, 2020."

"If you recall me from CWS Clerical, I am a paperwork machine and I may be one of the few people that could spot some of this BS in the altered Judicial Council forms. Who does that and then submits it to the court under penalty of perjury without any fear of repercussions? Someone who knows that they will get away with it. I would suggest that the blatant laziness of their altered documents is a good indicator that they never expected any scrutiny – as long as the form is in the file, we’re good.  Keep in mind, Attorney Hamer advertises herself as an expert in elder financial fraud cases and probate cases where the descendent didn’t leave a will. And this is the crap she is doing."

"Take a look at the letters that I have submitted to some of our elected officials and see if this is something you’re interested in hearing more about. I will tell you right up front that I have ulterior motives, I want to hear any information you’ve got on Judge Canning and/or Attorney Hamer."

"I want to get the word out about this attorney so please feel free to share this email and the documentation with anyone you’d like. We are also publishing a number of documents at our site www.riodelltimes.com"

"I hope you’re doing well and having a good start to 2022."

"Take care and keep up the good work with the court watching – the courthouse needs every eye on it possible and we’re going to do what we can to help with that."

Sharon Wolff"

Sharon has provided documents and written to legislators. Regarding her claims, there are attorneys and others more familiar with the subject matter who I am sure will contact me about this post. You can read what Sharon has written and documents provided and draw your own conclusions. She raises concerns and asks some questions. I have no direct access to Judge Timothy Canning. I doubt Chris Hamer will respond to me but I have contacted her.

I spoke with Sharon but also responded to her in writing and said, "I dont really know anything about Judge Canning and Chris Hamer other than what I report from court hearings which is court record."

Many of you will remember the Magney case which made national headlines and involved the courts, Humboldt County Counsel and other local agencies. I was the first person to report on the Magney debacle.

I received an email and documents from Sharon, a former co-worker of mine from CWS. While this post is about a conservatorship case involving Sharon's mother., she told me, "I am also hoping  this sheds light and encourages the bigger story of vulnerable adults in Humboldt County that are just fodder in the court system…like the Magney case."

Sharon is fine with her cell phone and other information being shared in the post. She has written letters and sent documents to Assemblymember Jim Wood and Assemblymember Mark Stone. Both letters are identical with the same documents. Tomorrow she is talking with the Deputy Counsel for the Assembly Judicial Committee.

Having observed many court hearings, covered Humboldt Superior Court, reported on experiences of pro per individuals, received countless of emails about family, civil and criminal cases and observed the dysfunctional Humboldt and California court system, I hope the legislators will investigate and look further into Sharon's concerns but also act to protect the civil rights of all individuals. Even if you have money or an attorney, California has  repeatedly been given a "judicial hellhole" ranking for a reason.
