Stay away order, treatment and consequences; a plea deal with benefit to both parties
Yesterday, before her preliminary hearing had concluded, a plea deal was reached in Jacquelyn Bradley's case. She was charged in this case with one count of first degree burglary. That count was dismissed this morning.
Bradley entered a guilty plea this morning for an added Count Two, 245 (a) (4), assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. The maximum sentence is four years. With her guilty plea, Bradley also admitted she violated probation in her 2018 misdemeanor case. Maximum sentence for that is 6 months in custody.
Judge Kaleb Cockrum has indicated a tentative 365 days in jail with felony probation. The other 2019 case was dismissed as a part of the plea.
Judge Cockrum authorized supervised release for Bradley to participate in a dual diagnosis Waterfront recovery program. She has been accepted and it is a 30 day program. Based on her finances,it only cover this program but Probation has resources and it was indicated that could lead to longer treatment and resources.
Judge Cockrum issued a 100 yard stay away order from Sgt. Wilson and the 800 block of D street. She is prohibited from possessing firearms for life.
"The reason I think this is a good fit for you," said Judge Cockrum, " you hear the concern in Sgt. Wilson's voice. "
Judge Cockrum referred to Bradley's prior and current record based on her behavior. "I'd like to see you in control rather than out of control," he said.
Sentencing is on July 21. No Arbuckle waiver. Bradley has spent time in custody before and after she was at Napa State Hospital.
Ms. Andrea Sullivan is Bradley's attorney. Deputy District Attorney Jessica Acosta is the prosecutor for this case.
The factual basis for the plea was the testimony of the responding officer, EPD Officer Joseph Couch and the victim, Sgt. Edward Wilson.
6/26: Bradley was released to the program at 10:30 a.m. on 6/25.
