Hate crimes on the rise in the U.S.; many of the perpetrators in L.A. are not white

Los Angeles recorded its highest level of reports of hate crimes in a decade, with a nearly 13% increase in 2018. Victims were targeted  based on sexual orientation, gender identity, race and religion.



Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism Executive Director Brian Levin said many of the accused perpetrators of hate crimes are not white.

Hate crimes in the country’s largest cities increased for the fifth consecutive year in 2018.
