In comments on the Facebook page, the Mendocino District Attorney's office said the woman provided the court with a physical address where she was living and that she was competent to stand trial.
"A defendant charged with willfully defecating in front of a local Ukiah business was convicted by plea Thursday morning of defecating in public, a misdemeanor."
Defendant Beatrice Sue Lamb, age 62, generally of Ukiah, was charged with defecating in front of the entry doors of a popular Talmage Road sandwich shop on January 6, 2019. During the investigation leading up to the filing of a formal charge, video was also discovered that this defendant had done the same thing a little over a year earlier in front of the front door of a South State Street barbershop.
The defendant is now on court probation for 12 months. As two terms of that probation, defendant Lamb is ordered to stay at least 50 yards away from the Bottle Shop Deli and Cesar's Barber Shop. As with all such probations, the defendant has also been ordered to refrain from committing the same or similar act and to obey all laws.
District Attorney Eyster said after court, "This community deserves better than this This sort of crass and illegal behavior has the potential of creating all sorts of public health and safety problems. While we have a lot of more serious crimes to address in the courts, we will not turn a blind eye on even lesser violations that put at risk public health and safety."
If folks out there know the defendant and (1) witness her violating the court stay away orders or (2) committing a repeat offense, please timely report same to the Ukiah Police Department.
