Oregon business owner Kim Metlan, Uri and Christine Driscoll to present proposal at HBHWG luncheon
Rail bikes along Eureka’s waterfront? This is the proposal that Uri and Christine Driscoll will be presenting at our Humboldt Bay Harbor Working Group luncheon this Wednesday, February 27, at the Samoa Cookhouse.
This topic is not directly related to our focus on better use of the Harbor. But it is one people want to learn more about; and we decided to, let’s say, take a break from our normal agenda and do something different.
Uri and Christine are in the process of bringing pedal rail bikes to Humboldt County. While human-powered rail vehicles have been around for over a century, this popular activity has only recently become a recreational opportunity. An Oregon Coast rail-rider owner and entrepreneur, Kim Metlan, will be with Chris and Uri to talk about the history of rail biking and its future along Humboldt Bay.
Join us to learn more about this fun, family-friendly way of riding the rails. After a short presentation and video there will be time for questions related to how this unique opportunity fits into the recreational use of Humboldt Bay.
Lunch starts being served at noon; and the presentation starts around 12:30. The luncheon is a "no host" event…the full lunch for $16, and soup and salad is available for $12.
