"I am not sure what facts justify the consolidation. Obviously, the crimes are of a similar nature."

Motion to consolidate murder, attempted robbery and battery suspect Richard Dean Villa's cases was filed by the People. That motion was put over to February 26 as his attorney, Deputy Public Defender Ben McLaughlin is sick and out of the office. Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo who appeared for him told Judge Christopher Wilson that defense opposes the motion to consolidate.

Judge Christopher Wilson said, "I am not sure what facts justify the consolidation. Obviously, the crimes are of a similar nature."

District Attorney Maggie Fleming appeared today for the People. The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads.

At the last court hearing, pre trial was scheduled for February 26, trial confirmation scheduled April 4 and jury trial April 22.

Charges for three cases listed below. Last October Dean waived his preliminary hearing. In exchange, one case, one count and one special allegation was dismissed by the People.
