Almost a day after this tweet, different media reports are being published. Some state that the two brothers questioned on Wednesday bought the rope at the request of Empire actor Jussie Smollett. Other media sources are saying according to inside sources say Smollet staged the attack.
Unlike the quick response to deny the hoax reports last time, Chicago Police said this in a statement tonight:
"We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation. We've reached out to the Empire cast member's attorney to request a follow-up interview.
Chicago Police and media have reached out to the actor and his attorne; so far, no response.
