Two people died and nine injured in two separate traffic collisions on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Francisco early Sunday morning. The collisions involved the same driver.

CHP Press Release:
At approximately 0235 hours a wrong way driver entered onto US-101 northbound in the wrong direction. The driver traveled southbound in the northbound lanes of US-101 and collided with two separate vehicles. It then continued wrong way and collided head on with a third vehicle (passenger van) near Alemany Blvd.
Both the wrong way driver and the driver of the passenger van were pronounced deceased on the scene. The front passenger inside the van was transported with major injuries and is in critical condition. The other five passengers in the van were transported with unknown injuries.
US-101 northbound at Alemany Blvd. will be closed until approximately 10 AM for collision investigation and clean up.
