Trying the case in the media and pressuring the DA in the Lawson case in 2017 didn't turn out well, yet here we are same old tactic again in 2019
On December 2, I reported that the District Attorney's office received additional information from the Arcata Police Department on November 30. More information was requested from other agencies.
In my response in the December 2 post, District Attorney Maggie Fleming said "I anticipate 4 to 6 additional weeks to complete the process assuming we receive additional needed information in a timely manner."
Former APD Interim Chief Richard Ehle met with Charmaine Lawson prior to handing over the case to the D.A.
Since this case started from Day 1, Charmaine Lawson rushes to certain media. These media are willing to hype the emotions in the community presenting a skewed side. Charmaine Lawson has been silent when activists with an agenda prevent fair coverage of this case. She only speaks to only certain media, who aren't willing to ask her tough questions or point out facts. Facts such as the D. A. is still reviewing the case. Any recent update should include new information, not what has been asked and answered.
I understand her grief, which is why who she gets information from is very important. I think many people have taken advantage of Charmaine Lawson's grief for their gain instead of helping her navigate a criminal justice system, long distance. What are her lawyers getting paid for?
More resources from politicians to agencies have been spent on this case while other mothers and families also grieve tragic, unexpected losses. How well did rushing the case turn out in 2017? Trying to pressure the DA via sound bytes is not going to solve the case.
We would not even be here in 2019 had witnesses not left the scene; we wouldn't be here had witnesses cooperated with Arcata Police Department on scene in 2017.
We would not be investigating this case in 2019 had law enforcement and the DA be allowed to work on this case tje first time without constant drama and media sound bytes that are divisive and unfair to Humboldt.
The disservice to Charmaine Lawson, Josiah Lawson was done by people who should have come forth in 2017. Prosecuting a case requires evidence that will stand up in a court of law.
