Asika Nicks arrested for arson of Summer Street residence is no stranger to law enforcement
On January 9, 2019, at about 10:40 p.m., Humboldt Bay Fire and the Eureka Police Department responded to a residence on the 800 block of Summer Street for the report of a porch on fire.
A resident was able to extinguish most of the fire before it spread. A witness described seeing a male throw gas on the porch and light it on fire before walking away on foot.
During the investigation, enough information was obtained to identify and locate the suspect. Officers responded to an apartment on the 100 block of W. Del Norte Street and contacted the suspect, Asika Nicks (34 of Eureka).
Nicks was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for arson and probation violation.
Anyone with information or surveillance is asked to call the Eureka Police Department. This is an ongoing investigation and further information will be released when appropriate.
