On Monday, November 21, 2016 at about 11:30 a.m. the Hoopa Valley Tribal Police Department received a report of shots fired at a vehicle on Bair Rd in Hoopa. HVTPD Officers spoke with the male victim. The male victim stated he was sitting in his vehicle when suspect Daniel Pratt, Jr. (18 years old) drove up to his vehicle in a white SUV, exited his vehicle with a firearm and fired several shots into the air. Pratt brandished an additional handgun and demanded the victim hand over all of his stuff. The victim began to drive away and Pratt fired shots into the victim’s vehicle. No one was injured during this incident.
A Be-On-the-Lookout (BOLO) was issued for Pratt by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office for attempted murder, attempted robbery, shooting at an inhabited dwelling/vehicle, and vandalism.
Later that day, HVTPD Officers and Humboldt County Deputy Sheriffs located Pratt at a residence on River Rd in Hoopa. Pratt was arrested without incident. He was taken to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for attempted murder, attempted robbery, shooting at an inhabited dwelling/vehicle, and vandalism. His bail was set at $500,000.
