In 2018,Judge Reinholtsen ruled that the documents I requested from the County of Humboldt in the Cory Fisher case are not covered by the litigation exception. All other media benefitted when the County released those documents.

In 2022, another example of the County being court ordered to turn a report over to media.
No sanctions against North Coast Journal as previously ordered by Judge Kelly Neel. NCJ was required to show cause at the March 21 hearing why the matter should not be dismissed for failure to appear and failure to provide proof of service by NCJ.
Instead on March 21, Judge Timothy Canning ordered the County to turn over the entire arbitrator's report to the North Coast Journal within one week.
Representing the County at the March 21 hearing was Deputy County Counsel Natalie Duke. The same attorney who the State Bar Court filed disciplinary charges against in the Judy Magney case. The State Bar is appealing Judge Phong Wang's ruling from that trial.
Humboldt County Counsel is utterly incompetent and has been particularly terrible when Jeff Blanck was in charge and worse now. The countless litigation losses, settlements and fighting media to release documents wasting time, resources and taxpayer dollars are a matter of public record.
In my March 15 post, I wrote this: "Rex, since media accuracy is so important to you, maybe you'd like to take some time from hanging outside on the Courthouse steps and give Sean Quincey and Elishia Hayes a crash course in how to respond to media and PRA requests and to do so for all requests and not just to whoever you County Gods approve of these days."
