Confusion, tech issues and no information regarding the Auditor Controller and BOS litigation

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors had a set time at today's meeting to for a conference call. They just went into closed session a couple of minutes ago for the item. I doubt they will release any information when they go back to regular session.

Around 9:10 County Counsel said, "15 to 20 minutes but hard to say", it is now 10:05.

This potential litigation is against the Auditor Controller and BOS? Is she included in this conference call? Has she been told what the allegations and basis of this "anonymous" lawsuit are?

The BOS under the guise of closed session without disclosing anything to the public is considering a vote to censure the Auditor Controller while refusing to provide any answers to the public about their own failures.

I have reached out to Ms. Paz Dominguez with a couple of questions.

"Censure is a formal, public, group condemnation of an individual, often a group member, whose actions run counter to the group's acceptable standards for individual behavior."

First, the video feed was not working until a couple of minutes until the meeting. Then there wete tech issues. The clerk had to assist Fourth District Supervisor about who wanted to comment via Zoom. Out of 4 speakers and a couple of people in the audience, only Thomas Mulder commented on the actual item. The rest: Jamie Marsden, Dottie Russell, Ash P and another man in the audience were there for general comment and started speaking until Supervisor Bass clarified and told them those items would be at 1:30.

Mulder is on the Humboldt Planning Commission appointed by Second District Supervisor Michelle Bushnell. He is hardly a unbiased commenter. He is involved in the cannabis industry which got a break on taxes that no other industry in Humboldt got and he seems unconcerned that about the cannabis revenue and how it is being recorded and spent.

I get along with Mulder unless this post will change his feelings about me. He has been very appreciative and complimentary about my blog and coverage.

Many people are fed up of hearing from department heads or commission/ committee members beholden to the Supervisors.

"It's really sad," said Mulder. "I support the BOS to protect taxpayer dollars. Mulder asked if there was a way to share information ahead of time instead of the BOS meetings. He asked if there could be press conferences or information diseeminated via blogs without legally violating the Brown Act.

Thomas, way ahead of you. I checked on the Brown Act with competent lawyers.

What media should the BOS share this information with? The ones spinning the BOS talking points. There is enough information and evidence out there, not just from the Auditor Controller. Just a google search on litigation against the County and the cost to taxpayers is one example that shows you are wrong about the BOS protecting taxpayer dollars.

Transparency would be telling the public who these anonymous department heads instead of the political theater of department heads and political appointees commenting at every meeting and pretending to care about the public interest.

The Board of Supervisors wouldn't even release a relevant PRA until they were repeatedly called out in public. That PRA does not even scratch the surface.

If the BOS and these anonymous department heads really cared about the taxpayers and public dollars, this litigation would be withdrawn and they would act like mature adults and learn to work with others, stop this public attack on one of their own departments, answer questions asked by independent media and put an end to this constant Humboldt Jerry Springer show.

I did a post on March 19, 2022 about this specific agenda item. The letter signed by anonymous department heads and "potential litigation."

If you have not read the March 19 post, yesterday's posts and previous coverage, then you should and can for background and context.
