Judge Reinholtsen rules the documents I requested about pending litigation against the County are not covered by the gag order

Judge Dale Reinholtsen ruled that the documents I requested from the County of Humboldt are not covered by the litigation exception. If you have not been following the coverage on this issue, there are posts linked below and explain why these documents are related to former correctional deputy Cory Fisher's case.

There was also an oral motion to continue the preliminary hearing scheduled for tomorrow. New date for preliminary is June 21. There are 7 other preliminary hearings scheduled for thst date.  Intervention is scheduled for June 14.

The People did object but the motion was granted since defense counsel was out sick of two weeks and due to defense needing more time to investigate.

No other media has covered each hearing on this in camera issue, until today. The last hearing Times-Standard's Dan Squier showed up towards the end of the hearing and it was continued. There have been afew hearings on this issue.

No other media has covered the pending litigation against the County which is the reason I requested these documents  As far as I know, I am the only one who filed a public records request and I was the first one to do so. This was something I spent time on, thought of first and would have had the exclusive a month and a half ago.

There has been some reference to the HCSO or County of Humboldt possibly holding a press conference. Judge Reinholtsem said they would need to modify the gag order and bring it before Judge Christopher Wilson.
If they chose to do that, Judge Reinholtsen said I, as the petitioner, would get to offer input. The rest of the media just doesnt get to benefit on something they didnt think of and care to put time in.

Intervention and a ruling by Judge Dale Reinholtsen on whether certain documents can be released to me was scheduled in the Cory Fisher case for May 18.

Both matters were continued to this morning after Judge Dale Reinholtsen met with Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads, Deputy County Counsel Natalie Duke and Deputy Conflict Counsel Joe Judge in a closed courtroom. Judge Reinholtsen met with all three again this morning.

The documents pertain to a Public Records request I made to the County about pending litigation against the County from four inmates.

Before the courtroom was closed on May 18, Deputy Conflict Counsel Joe Judge said he objects due to the gag order.
