Thomas Lee Singleton was arrested yesterday by HCSO and booked on four counts of PC 288 (a) and PC 288.7 (b),according to the jail log. A declaration for his arrest warrant was issued on September 10. The arrest warrant was filed today. Bail at booking is $750,000. The original complaint was filed August 17,2021.
Singleton was arraigned this afternoon. Bail was increased to 1.2 million at Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer's request. According to the bail schedule, $750,000 is the amount for Count 1; the rest if for the remaining counts.
Conflict Counsel's office was appointed. Time was not waived. Preliminary hearing is on October 6.
The charges in the complaint are 7 counts. Count 1 is PC 288.7 (b), oral copulation with a child under 10. Counts 2 to 7 are PC 288 (a) lewd or lascivious act with a minor under the age of 14.
Singleton allegedly molested Jane Doe at a beach in Arcata and his apartment in Eureka. Most of the alleged incidents were in his apartment in Eureka.
10/6: Public Defender declared a conflict. Mr. Zach Curtis was appointed. He requested the preliminary hearing be continued to 11/18.
11/18: Preliminary hearing continued by defense due to outstanding discovery. Setting of preliminary hearing scheduled for 12/13/21.
12/13/21: Setting of preliminary hearing for Thomas continued by stipulation to 1/11/22.
