There could be a dead body in that car but who would know?

This car has been in the same spot for at least a week or more. I have walked by at different times and there is no sign of life. For the last several months, this spot near 3rd and V always has some empty abandoned car (s) parked but usually shady looking characters dart in and out, furtive glances,  with beat up cars pulling up and leaving within minutes.

There could be a dead body in that car but who would know? No one cares.

Certainly not the Pacific Towing employees who stand around most of the day, certainly not Hansen's Insurance who seem to be content with people passed out, loitering and casing around their office, loitering, certainly not the G.R. Sundberg and other construction workers hired by the City of Eureka, PG & E or CalTrans. They spend more time talking for hours in the lot by Pacific Towing or on 4th and 5th street then working. No wonder construction has been ongoing forever.

Many streets in Eureka are pitch dark and a  breeding ground for drug deals. The City of Eureka hasn't bothered with street lights which would drastically improve public safety. Addicts and petty thieves wouldn't case neighborhoods if they could be seen and identified. It would drastically reduce EPD calls for alarms, break ins and petty theft.

I have called EPD a couple of times when I was walking by and there were  problems and suspicious activity occuring in that spot associated with the shady people and cars. Those cars have not returned; so far.

EPD does patrol the area but it is up to the neighborhood and businesses to alert them of issues. The same people and businesses get fed up of calling.  Take pride and ownership of your city and your environment. This City Council has proved they care more about murals than your lives, property and safety or input on what affects you.
