Cocaine and alcohol is what Brett Watson is charged with after his August arrest

Arcata Mayor Brett Watson was scheduled to be arraigned in early resolution court this morning.

See what I wrote before the update. Watson's arraignment was continued and moved to another courtroom.

Will he accept an early resolution offer? Will future dates be set? Sometimes cases are moved from early resolution court to criminal court. Arraignment in early resolution court mostly entering a plea and setting dates. Often, just an attorney makes an appearance.

Update after 9/13 hearing: Commissioner Fran Greenleaf disqualified herself. This would be due to her personal and prior relationship with Mr. Patrik Griego. Arraignment was moved to tomorrow in Courtroom 5.

Count 1 is VC 23152 (a) DUI. Count 2 is VC 23152 (b) DUI.  Count 2 has a special allegation VC 23578 of BAC .15 or over.

VC 23152(a)  makes it unlawful for a person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage to drive a vehicle. VC 23152(b) prohibits driving with a blood alcohol content of . 08% or greater.

Count 3 is HS 11350 (a) possession of controlled substance. Count 4 is HS 11364 (a) possession of controlled substance paraphernalia. Cocaine is the substance listed in the complaint.
